The YMCA is committed to building
strong families, and Y-Adventure Guides promotes
healthy families by providing a structured
program for fathers or mothers and their sons
and daughters. This program creates special
time and activities to strengthen relationships
while having fun and is for children in grades K
- 4.
Small groups, or tribes, meet
once a month (during the school year) in
members’ homes for activities and fellowship.
The members of all the tribes in the Quapaw
Nation enjoy an “all group” activity about six
times each year, beginning and ending the
program year with camp-outs. Other activities
include a pinewood derby race, participation in
the Hot Springs Christmas Parade, flashlight
hike down Hot Springs mountain, turkey shoot,
and ringing bells for the Salvation Army.
Most
importantly, the Y Adventure Guides Program is
about making the time to be with our most
cherished possession, our children. This is what
our program is all about - providing a plan for
parents to be with their kids on a regular
basis.
